'...not only is Storm Queen on track to be one of the most memorable releases of 2022, but that Cummings is well on her way to being one of Australia’s most prominent performers.'
— Rolling Stone Magazine
Cummings’ voice is beautiful, soaring with an unholy majesty, and frank in its low-octave, earthy state … She is a poetic songwriter… On ‘Storm Queen’, Cummings calls down the spirits of punk poets past and present: Nick Cave, Nico, Tom Waits and Patti Smith. … but her beautiful, heartbreaking voice and music prove exceptional.
-Pitchfork
Grace Cummings' first ever solo headline shows in New Zealand will be with the Small Hall Sessions, and I could not be more proud! I have worked for over a year to get this young Australian artist to come to us.
The acclaimed Australian folk/blues musician joins The Veils on all dates for their …And Out Of The Void Came Love national album release tour in March & April, and adds the limited capacity Small Hall Sessions Shows, plus one at The Wine Cellar in Auckland to her time in Aotearoa.
Grace Cummings is influenced by 20th century poets and luminaries, from Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan to Brett Whitely and Van Gogh. Her songwriting is intensely personal and reflects a strong connection to the Australian landscape.
In her short career, Grace has been invited to support Weyes Blood, Evan Dando, J Mascis and the Allah-Lahs in Melbourne. Her debut album, Refuge Cove, was released through Flightless Records, earning critical acclaim from Pitchfork and Allmusic, amongst others. Her sophomore album, Storm Queen, was released in January 2022 to critical acclaim.
“Refuge Cove affirms Grace Cummings as one of Melbourne’s hottest new talents...filled with raw power.”
