This 20hr, 2.5 day ONLINE Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Foundation Workshop (with pre-recorded workshop material, including training from David Emerson & Jenn Turner), will introduce you to the foundations, core concepts and applications of the highly regarded, evidence based yoga program, TC-TSY, for adults and youth affected by PTSD, CPTSD, developmental, and/or complex trauma, dissociative disorders and other related emotional and behavioural difficulties. Developed at the Trauma Center since 2003, a part of Justice Resource Institute, JRI since 2006 & the flagship program of the Center for Trauma and Embodiment at JRI.
This workshop is interactive with 12.5hrs live online content and 7.5hr pre-recorded and written content which is intended to inspire yoga teachers to make their classes more trauma-aware and to support health providers to bring the body into treatment when working with people affected by traumatic stress and complex trauma.
Co-facilitated by TCTSY JRI Licensed Trainer and TCTSY Facilitator, Kristen Pringle,(TCTSY-F, TCTSY-T, TCTSY Certification Supervisor, Yoga Therapist (IAYT), Registered Senior Yoga Teacher (Yoga Australia), E-RYT-200 & YACEP (Yoga Alliance),Senior Mental Health Clinician & Occupational Therapist (OTAUS), and Joan Greaves (TCTSY-F & TCTSY Trainer Trainee, Psychotherapist, ACC service provider); this workshop is part of the Trauma Center Yoga Program & the Center of Trauma & Embodiment at JRI, and therefore is the ONLY Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Workshop/trainings accredited by JRI & the Director of the Center for Trauma & Embodiment at JRI David Emerson.
In this workshop you will be introduced to specific practices and theory to support you to facilitate movement and breath practices that are trauma aware and trauma-sensitive, as well as an introduction to:
- The relationship of TC-TSY on current trauma theory, attachment theory and neuroscience (Interoceptive Theory)
- Neurophysiology & Biology of Stress and Trauma (How Trauma impacts the Brain)
- Spectrum of Trauma Impacts & Complex Trauma as Lived Experience
- Power and Oppression
- Building Trauma Sensitive Relationships
- Key Elements of TCTSY Methodology that can be applied to facilitating trauma-sensitive somatic practices
- The evidence base involving TC-TSY (Overview of studies)
- Applications of Trauma aware, Trauma-sensitive and Trauma-informed yoga and challenges in implementing TSY
- TSY in practice and practice facilitation (large and small group interactive practice opportunities, demonstrations and TC-TSY video practices to keep)

An exciting interactive learning environment for only 20 participants. You will receive:

- Over 7.5 hours of content to review and keep! The payment scale is based on your self-determined access to resources, privilege, social capital, and your current financial situation due to the effects of the global pandemic

TC-TSY is the ONLY yoga program that has been recognised as a clinical adjunctive treatment for trauma in the USA by SAMSHA:NREPP, which is uniquely why this trauma-sensitive yoga workshop will assist you!

Please Note: This workshop satisfies one of the pre-requisites for applicants of the Center for Trauma and Embodiment at JRI's 300-hour Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) Certification Program for Yoga Teachers, Mental Health Care Professionals, and people working with individuals and communities that have experienced trauma to be held annually LIVE online and pre-reorded online from September to April.
This 20hr workshop provides IAYT and YA members continuing education credits of 18hrs and 20hrs respectively. As your facilitator is also a Senior Yoga Teacher, an accredited Yoga Therapist, and a Medicare endorsed Allied Health Mental Health Clinician and Occupational Therapist, most participants can claim hours from the workshop as professional development via their registration/membership bodies.
THIS WORKSHOP IS SOLELY FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND IS NOT A CERTIFICATE PROGRAM: TO BE CERTIFIED IN TCTSY COMPLETION OF THE 300HR TCTSY CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED. This workshop does not certify the participant in yoga teaching: To be certified to facilitate a 'stand-alone yoga program' or 'solely yoga intervention' , you require yoga teacher training and respective insurance, however short part-components of yoga can be delivered by other professionals within their specific scope of professional practice.
This workshop is also not intended as an intervention for those who have experienced trauma. Talking about trauma, even in the context of a professional training can be triggering/overwhelming.
