Graham Ross directs the Choir of Clare College, Cambridge in a celebratory programme of doubles: choral pairings of sacred texts from Byrd and Monte to Bingham and Marsh, and the 20th-century masterpiece that is the Mass for double choir by Swiss composer Frank Martin.
The programme also celebrates the centenary of the death of Charles Villiers Stanford, one of the most significant composers for the Anglican church, with his ecstatic double-choir setting of the Magnificat, and his much-loved anthems 'The Blue Bird' and 'For lo, I raise up' – accompanied on the very organ that was built to a specification by Stanford himself.
