Lancashire Devolution & Combined County Authority

Lancashire Devolution & Combined County Authority

About

The Lancashire Combined County Authority (LCCA) was officially launched in early 2025 as a collaborative effort between Lancashire County Council, Blackburn with Darwen Council, and Blackpool Council. This non-mayoral combined authority aims to transfer powers from central government to local decision-makers, providing a unified body to champion the county's interests and address local priorities.

But what might devolution mean in practice?

What does Devolution and Lancashire Combined Authority mean to your organisation working in the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector?

Lancaster District CVS are hosting an in person event where you’ll be able to learn more. We are delighted to be joined by Simon Lawrence, the Director of Growth and Regeneration for Lancashire County Council. In his presentation, he will cover:

  • The new structure for Lancashire County Counci
  • Its aims, objectives and plans for Lancashire
  • The likely benefits of devolution for people in Lancaster District
  • The role of the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector.

We are also pleased to welcome Dr. Dayo Eseonu, Lecturer in Politics and Policy at Lancaster University. Dayo will provide an independent perspective on what devolution means for democracy, governance, and local voice and reflect on the opportunities and risks for the VCFSE sector in this shifting landscape.

There will be space for open discussion and Q&A, giving you a chance to share your views and ask questions. There will also be time for networking and to speak with the LDCVS team.

This event is open to anyone working in the VCFSE sector across Lancaster District and forms part of our ongoing Q&A sessions.

For more information, see the Lancashire Combined County Authority website, and the Lancashire Growth Plan.

We would be delighted if you could attend this event and share your views and amplify the impact of the sector on people and our communities.
