Forest and Frequency - Screening and panel discussion

About
Forest and Frequency is a film by documentary maker Georgianna Scurfield that follows the Major Oak, artist Caroline Locke, and researchers from the University of Nottingham over the course of a year.It begins in summer 2024 as Locke works with University of Nottingham engineers to record the tree's natural frequency using state-of-the-art technology to scan and record specific data points. On return visits to Sherwood Forest, we are introduced to researchers from different academic disciplines who share their insights and relationships with woodland ecosystems.
Join us for an exclusive screening of the film, followed by a panel discussion. We will hear from the documentary maker, the artist and featured rural geographer Professor Charles Watkins. The event will be chaired by Dr Mark Rawlinson, Director of the Centre for Research in Visual Culture.
The film was commissioned as part of FOREST, a temporary exhibition on display at Nottingham Castle, open until 2 November.
