From Ashdown to Africa and Back Again

About
Mark Infield grew up on the Ashdown Forest which inspired his love of nature and led to a career in conservation in Africa and Asia.Mark is now the Landscape Recovery Manager for Ashdown Forest and lives in Fairwarp Village. His book, “Beautiful Beasts, Beautiful Lands”, suggest that scientific and economic explanations and justifications for conservation do not resonate with communities.
His talk here will explore this subject further, arguing that local, cultural and value-based relationships between people, place and nature ultimately provide a stronger platform for partnerships to deliver conservation. He believes this is as relevant here as to Africa or Asia and brings this thinking to his work as Landscape Recovery Manager for Ashdown Forest.
