Dykes Who Hike is an LGBTQ+ women, trans and non-binary hiking group, set up to offer a space for the community to meet, get outdoors, and connect naturally. Since it was set up in 2024, DWH attracts over 200 hikers each time, and now has branches across the UK.

Join girlhike and Dykes Who Hike at Margate Pride! We're combining forces on Saturday 9 August for a community-building hike to meet new friends and take part in Margate's annual celebration of LGBTQIA+ joy and activism. Join us for a one-way, 5 mile hike, beginning at Broadstairs Station. We'll end at Walpole Bay Lawns, where we'll merge into the wider Margate Pride parade, and continue down to Dreamland where you can party with your new friends to your hearts' content.

PRICING DETAILS
- General Admission - £5
- All proceeds (after event costs) will be donated directly to Margate Pride.
- Your ticket includes a limited-run girlhike x Dykes Who Hike button badge
HIKE DETAILS
- This girlhike will include:
- An easy hike for ~5 miles along the fields + seaside, from Broadstairs to Margate
- Participation in the annual Margate Pride Parade
- Qualified leadership
TRAVEL DETAILS
- Meet at Broadstairs Train Station for 11:00am hike start.
- From London:
- 9.10 from Victoria
- 9.20 (slow) or 9.40 (fast) trains from St Pancras
- From London:
- Note: this is not a circular hike
- The hike itself will end at 2pm at Dreamland in Margate, after the parade finishes. Stay in Margate as long as you want, with your new friends in tow!
- Return Route: use Margate Station, where there are a couple train options to London per hour. This is a 10 min walk from Dreamland. If you are local to Thanet, we recommend using local transportation links.
SAFETY DETAILS
- In order to register for this event, you will need to affirm the following:
- By taking part in outdoor activities with girlhike, there is a risk element that you accept. You affirm that you have the medical fitness to take part in this activity. You assume the responsibility of keeping yourself safe - such as, but not limited to: being careful when walking on slippery surfaces.
- You will bring any medical supplies you may require along the hike. girlhike cannot provide nurofen, paracetamol, inhalers, or administer epi pens. You agree to communicate fully with Alaina Crystal and Claire Bingham, girlhike guides, about any health concerns that may arise.
- You give permission to Alaina Crystal and Claire Bingham to seek emergency medical diagnosis or treatment for you in the event that you are unconscious or unable to make your own decisions. Alaina's role will be limited to emergency first‐aid and either transportation to the nearest medical facility or contacting such a facility to arrange emergency transport.
- We'll head out rain or shine, so please do prepare with sturdy boots, layers, and waterproofs if necessary. If the Met Office issues a weather warning, we will notify you of any changes in plan.
- Note: While this hike aims to be as accessible as possible, it may incorporate some surfaces which are less smooth and stable. Do get in touch if you have any questions on the hike terrain.
