PREVENT training: safeguarding against radicalisation
About
Prevent is part of the UK government’s counter-terrorism strategy and aims to educate and safeguard those who may be vulnerable to radicalisation. It is part of the statutory duty that surrounds safeguarding. Prevent provides support through training and guidance so that more and more people can identify the signs of radicalisation and support for terrorist groups, and therefore implement early intervention strategies.
As an organisation or person that works within our local community, you are ideally placed to support and educate your relevant audiences. Prevent is simply another strand within safeguarding and is designed to keep us all safe.
This session will cover:
• the meaning of terrorism, extremism, radicalisation and ideology
• different extremist groups: Islamist, extreme right-wing, extreme left-wing
• spotting signs of radicalisation
• people who may be vulnerable to radicalisation
• a toolkit to identify radicalisation - behaviours and vulnerabilities
The session is free, but you need to book your place because of limited space.
