Numeracy skills are crucial for future independence and everyday life; there are many mathematical concepts that we can easily introduce from a very early age. This session explores how to effectively support the development of numeracy skills in the Early Years. It focuses on the steps children need to practise to build strong counting skills and offers a range of practical techniques and engaging, visual resources to introduce early numeracy concepts in a meaningful way.Participants will also discover how Numicon, a multi-sensory teaching resource, can be used to reinforce children’s understanding of numbers through hands-on learning.
This session is ideal for EYFS/KS1 practitioners looking for practical and effective strategies to promote mathematical thinking from a very early age.
