About
The Guard (2011) is a sharp, darkly comedic crime drama set in a quiet Irish town. It centres on Sergeant Gerry Boyle, a quirky and unconventional local police officer with a dry sense of humour and a disregard for protocol. When an international drug trafficking case lands in his jurisdiction, Boyle is paired with FBI Agent Wendell Everett, a methodical and principled investigator from the United States.
Despite their contrasting personalities and cultural differences, the two must work together to unravel a complex criminal operation. The film blends wit, suspense, and character-driven storytelling, offering a fresh take on the buddy cop genre with a distinctly Irish flavour.
