We are delighted to invite you to a virtual talk on psychomotor learning, hosted by Mr Josh Trigwell, Sports Psychology & Performance Advisor at Surbiton High Boys’ Prep School.This session follows on from our previous series of Sports Psychology Talks and will explore the important connection between physical movement and cognitive development, and how this relationship can positively impact sporting performance and skill execution.
During the talk, Mr Trigwell will cover:
How psychomotor learning supports children’s cognitive growth and decision‑making abilities
Strategies to enhance coordination, focus, and consistency in sporting activities
Practical ways to encourage mind‑body development in young athletes
About the Speaker:
Mr Josh Trigwell is a former National 1500m champion with numerous accolades, including a 4min 01sec mile and recognition among the Top 10 fastest mile times in the UK in 2022. A 10‑time National Finalist, he retired from competitive athletics in 2023.
He now coaches at an elite level, recently guiding an athlete to his first England international call‑up in the 5000m, and aspires to coach athletes towards Olympic selection. In addition, Josh delivers mentoring and wellbeing workshops for Adidas Runners, focusing on coping mechanisms, optimising pre‑competition routines, and managing emotions.
Audience: This virtual talk is aimed at parents who want to understand how supporting physical activity can help children develop not only in sport but also in confidence, concentration, and overall learning.
