'History of the OB Club'
Speaker: Cathy Flavelle, Blundell's Archivist
Topic: 'History of the OB Club'
With the first OB Day Feast in 1725, the Club and its predecessors has endured and adapted through three centuries of profound challenge and transformation, including smallpox outbreaks, two World Wars, and the School’s move to the Horsdon site. This talk explores how the activities, values, and purpose of the Old Blundellian Club have evolved in response to changing social, political, and educational contexts, while also highlighting the remarkable continuities that have sustained it across generations. By tracing the Club’s history from the early eighteenth century to the present day, the talk reflects on resilience, community, and the enduring significance of the Old Blundellian identity.
