Cairngorm Big 4 Mountaineering Expedition
About
In this expedition we will aim to summit on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th highest mountains in Scotland in one journey over 2 days. The walk will involve long and arduous days with an overnight camp on the southern side of the Cairngorms, however the route is not particularly technical, so suitable for strong and competent hillwalkers. Camping equipment will be transferred to the campsite, so you will only be carrying day sacks. You will be guided from the road at the ski centre across the eastern plateau on day one via Cairngorm and Beinn MacDuibh, reaching a wild campsite at Derry Lodge. On the 2nd day we will return by the Western plateau via Cairn Toul and Braeriach to the road near Aviemore. Camping and cooking equipment will be transferred to the campsite, so you won’t need to carry these. The walk involves acsending to 4000ft in extremely remote and very rocky territory. Both days will be around 30km in length.
An optional 3rd day shorter Cairngorm walk will be offered on Monday.
All routes are subject to alteration due to weather and other factors.
Camping equipment can be provided if needed, you will need to bring your own full mountaineering clothing and good quality walking boots, as well as camping and cooking equipment (if not hiring), food for 2 lunches, 1 evening meal, one breakfast. Guides will support with the camping as with the mountaineering.
