Good Friday Meditation on Christ's Passion
About
Friday 3rd April 2026Join conductor, Nicholas Hurndall Smith, and Lancaster Priory Choir & Friends for a special meditation on Christ's Passion. Accompanied by string ensemble, the music event on Good Friday brings the Easter section of Messiah, and four short cantatas from Buxtehude’s fabulous Membra Jesu Nostri. Each of these is addressed to a part of Jesus' crucified body: feet, hands, side and face. The programme is framed by Thomas Tomkins’ A Sad Pavan for these Distracted Times, and interspersed with short spoken meditations.
If you are an invited singer please use the booking point for your donation.
If you are an audience member you are invited to reserve your place in advance. There will be limited seating for this meditation so advance booking is recommended.
