Hull High School History Tour - March, April & May 2026
About
This tour is perfect for former pupils of Hull High School which was based at Tranby Croft from 1945. The HHSG tour gives you the opportunity to hear about the development of the school from its origins in 1890 until its merger with Hull Grammar School in 2005. Alumni will be able to revisit their former classrooms and dorms and re-live stories from their school days.Visit the former Headmistress’s office, gaze again at the painted ceiling in the Drawing Room and reminisce about climbing the ropes or attending assemblies in the ‘old gym’.
The tour moves at a pace suitable for all ages and abilities and though there are stairs these can be accessed slowly and carefully, or not at all if appropriate.
There will also be an opportunity to go up the tower for those who wish for wonderful views of the grounds (weather permitting).
A truly wonderful tour for former pupils, delivered with passion and flair by the brilliant Gordon Stephenson. Recently retired as our Head of Languages, Gordon remains a treasured part of Tranby life as our archivist, school historian and newly appointed Governor.
All proceeds from this tour will be donated to the Tranby Trust charity. The Tranby Trust supports families in our school community during times of financial difficulty, so all Tranby pupils enjoy the same opportunities such as access to trips and school uniform.
