WHY ART MATTERS - 'INVISIBILITY' - NOW YOU SEE ME...
About
Join us as we use the power of art to explore the big questions of our time. The second in our series of study days which use a broad array of examples from across art history to dig deep into concepts and ideas which affect us all. Led by curator Dr Elizabeth Fisher and artist Alison Critchlow these sessions are friendly, engaging and honest with a straight talking approach- they offer thoughtful ways of using art history to inform the present. Examples from artists working today will be shown alongside historical work- this is all about broadening knowledge, being curious and discussing the challenges of today through the lens of art history. ‘Invisiblity’- Now you see me…’ asks important questions about what or who is nowhere to be seen. Whose voices get heard and who remains invisible? Who decides? Why? How? Has it always been this way? Join us as we look more carefully at gaps and absences in our art galleries, museum collections, algorithms, media and attention span. Exploring the invisible parts of our existence, it promises to be unexpectedly revealing.Alison Critchlow
