Harriet Martineau in Ambleside: A Discussion

Stuart Hobday will be joined by Professor Valerie Sanders and author Gaby Weiner. They will present and discuss the life of radical 19th-century writer Harriet Martineau, who lived in Ambleside from 1846 until she died in 1876. All three panellists have extensively researched and written about Martineau's life and work, and this event will focus on Martineau's life and the writing she produced at The Knoll - the house she lived in.About The Harriet Martineau conference:
For the 150th anniversary of Harriet Martineau’s death, the Martineau Society will be hosting its annual conference in conjunction with the University of Cumbria, Ambleside Campus, in Ambleside, England. The Martineau Society conference is an interdisciplinary conference that focuses on the lives, work, and contributions of the Martineau family, including Harriet Martineau (1802-1876). Harriet Martineau resided in the Lake District for much of her later years, from 1845 until she died in 1876.
