Open Farm Sunday (SOLD OUT)
About
Oakwood Farm is opening its gates to the general public for this annual national event organised by LEAF (Linking the Environment And Farming).
There will be substantial free parking with refreshments available, toilet facilities and seating areas. Sorry but NO dogs are allowed at this event. Families are particularly welcome but due to the nature of a farming terrain some areas will be limited access for disabled people.
The farm is a grassland farm and has a flock of breeding sheep with lambs, some orphan lambs, a few cows and a bull, some rare breed Oxford Sandy and Black pigs. A sow and a litter of new born piglets, 2 Alpacas and 4 Pygmy Goats.
The farm will be open and a marked walk around the fields will be available. Heard you will not only see the farm animals but also the wildlife and beautiful countryside.
There is a small farm shop on the farm which will be open for purchases of fresh produce and preserves and local honey etc.
This is a FREE event to attend with only the refreshments to pay for. There is a small drinks stall selling coffees, teas and other beverages.
Visitors are advised to wear appropriate clothing for an outdoor event bearing in mind this is a working farm with some areas having an undulating surface.
The farm also has tractors that you can sit in for a feel of how a large agricultural machine is.
