About

This concert will feature pieces by such composers as Fitkin, Britten, Debussy, Boulanger. Corelli, Monk, Woods and Gershwin.

In this concert, Jess teams up with pianist Zeynep Özsuca and bassist Sam Becker. Together, they bring a thrilling mix of music – from jazz legends like Phil Woods to baroque brilliance from Corelli, and the joyful swing of Gershwin. Expect surprises, favourites with a twist, and a touch of folk.

Jess Gillam is a celebrated saxophonist and presenter. With her electrifying performances, vibrant stage presence and magnetic personality, the ‘uniquely mercurial’ (The Times) Jess has been invited to play on the world’s major stages since becoming the youngest ever soloist to perform at the Last Night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, London. Equally at home behind the microphone, Jess’ award-winning weekly show, This Classical Life, on BBC Radio 3 is now in its eighth season. Jess is passionate about broadening the repertoire for the saxophone, especially in the classical sphere.

Doors open 45 minutes before performance. There are large double doors at the side of the building with no steps that allow easy access for wheelchairs directly into the hall. Please let us know if you need to reserve space for wheelchairs. There is no reserved seating (except for those in wheelchairs). It is first come, first served, but the hall is not large (about twelve rows of twelve seats) and the acoustics are excellent throughout.

Tickets for those in full-time education are £10 direct from secretary@peakmusicsociety.org.uk

VERY IMPORTANT - please note! There is a Cavendish Village Hall in the village of Beeley (postcode DE45 2NU), 2.5 miles away at the other end of the Chatsworth Park from Edensor. This shows up when you Google "Cavendish Hall Edensor", and we have been told that one or two car SatNav systems have been wrongly locating our postcode DE45 1PJ there as well, so please check you are headed for Edensor and not Beeley before you drive off! If you Google "Peak Music Society" it will show the correct position on the map.
