Live music, dancing, learning and community.Join The Waite Collective for a welcoming afternoon of Balfolk dance near Chester, featuring live music from Helianthus.
Whether you're completely new to Balfolk or have danced with us before, you'll find friendly people, great music and plenty of opportunities to learn and dance together.
No partner or previous experience is required – we'll help you settle in and get dancing.

We'll begin with a friendly workshop introducing and practising some of the dances you'll encounter during the afternoon, followed by dancing to live music from Helianthus and singing for dancing from The Waite Collective.
We're delighted to welcome Helianthus, a talented trio featuring Helen Armstrong (cello and fiddle), Ian Jones (melodeon and flute), and Helen de Lemos (saxophone, bagpipes and recorder). With a shared passion for French and English dance music, they bring beautiful melodies, rich harmonies and danceable rhythms to every performance. Their warm and engaging music makes them a joy to dance to and we're delighted to have them joining us.
The afternoon includes:
• A friendly Balfolk workshop suitable for both new and experienced dancers.
• Live music from Helianthus.
• Singing for dancing from The Waite Collective.
• Tea, coffee, cake and fruit during the afternoon.
• Friendly dancers and a welcoming atmosphere.
After the official dancing finishes, The Waite Collective will be staying for informal social time. You're warmly invited to stay for another drink, conversation or a meal of your own choosing. Bring your own food, join our pizza order if arranged in advance, or simply stay for conversation and community.
