Hedge laying at Summerhouse Community Farm

Location
Summerhouse Community Farm Summerhouse Community Farm, Lancaster, LA1 5FB
About
Join Hilary Smith to learn about the ancient art of hedge laying.
Hedgerows are an important part of our local landscapes and at Summerhouse Community Farm. They act as a boundary, a wind break and shelter and can play an important role in supporting wildlife to flourish. To do so, they need to be planted and laid in the right way, so they grow strong and survive.
Hilary Smith will talk through the theory of hedge laying and apply this to the hedgerows of Summerhouse Community Farm. There will be practical demonstrations and opportunities to have a go too.
This session will be followed by another practical workday on Sunday 6 December 11:00 - 15:00 for those who are keen to practice.
This event is part of the wider Growing Food and Community training programme: foodfutures.org.uk/growing-food-community/
