About
Morgan Sports Car Club: Mogsquad drive through Oxfordshire and the North Cotswolds, 18 August 2026THIS EVENT IS LIMITED TO EIGHT CARS
NOTE: You need to book a ticket to attend. Only those who have booked their car in to this system will receive the joining instructions!
ROUTE
This route links two of southern England’s finest landscapes: the sweeping chalk downland of the North Wessex Downs and the honey-coloured limestone villages of the Cotswolds. It begins with the wonderfully open B4507, running beneath the Berkshire Downs with wide views across the Vale of White Horse, before crossing peaceful farmland and the upper Thames Valley to the historic market towns of Faringdon and Bampton.
Continuing northwards, the scenery becomes unmistakably Cotswold. Quiet lanes wind through the Evenlode Valley, past ancient villages, dry-stone walls and rolling sheep pasture, before climbing onto the high wolds around Kingham and Moreton-in-Marsh. The final section through Blockley, Broad Campden, Willersey and over the dramatic ascent of Fish Hill offers some of the region’s most enjoyable driving roads.
EVENT DETAILS
We will meet in Letcombe Regis, near Wantage, for an 0900 briefing, to drive off at 0915. Breakfast is available from 0730, and overnight accommodation is also possible (book directly with the hotel).
The drive will end around 1330-1400 at the luxurious hotel Dormy House, near Broadway, at which lunch will be available to those who have pre-booked.
We will experience the full variety of Cotswold roads, from fast B-roads with sweeping views to narrow (and a bit bumpy) single-lane tracks through farmland. The route is around 70 miles with around three hours of driving. There will be a coffee stop en route.
We would rate this run as:
- Driving difficulty: Moderate with a couple of 2 mile stretches of Advanced
- Navigation difficulty: Easy-Moderate, but we will be using a new app
- Scenery potential: Excellent (with some Good where the unmown grass is higher than a Morgan!)
- Driving fun potential: Good with several portions of Excellent
Drivers must be MSCC members (a condition of the Club’s insurance.)
