Young Leaders Training Weekend - 4 to 6 September 2026

We are delighted to announce the launch of our new County training arrangements for Explorer Scouts aspiring to be Young Leaders. To complement existing arrangements run at District level, the County Team is introducing a weekend training camp each term which will cover 9 of the 11 modules (Modules B to J) of the Young Leader Training Award over the course of one weekend.Aspiring Young Leaders will have the opportunity to complete most of the required content for the Young Leader Award whilst having the opportunity to meet with other like-minded Young People from across the County and bag 2 nights away towards their other Top Awards.
Pre-requisite: Module A – Prepare for take off*
*There may be an opportunity for us to cover Module A at the start of the weekend for those who have not been able to complete this beforehand.

Further training required after the camp: Module K – First Aid
Locations:
Autumn Term: 4-6 September 2026 at Petersham & Ham Sea Scout Group, Richmond upon Thames
Spring Term: 8-10 January 2027 at TBC
Summer Term: 9-11 April 2027 at Pinewood Activity Centre, Croydon
There will be a modest cost of £30 (+ £1.65 booking fee) for the training weekend to cover the cost of meals and accommodation which we expect individuals to pay and claim from the Group they are supporting as a Young Leader
