The Morgan Sports Car Club's CX Group has arranged a drive through beautiful Wiltshire and beyond.THE DRIVE
This route crosses some of the finest countryside in southern England, linking Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire, Berkshire and Hampshire. You’ll travel from the wooded western edge of the Cotswolds, across the rolling chalk downs of Wiltshire, through the prehistoric landscape of Avebury and the Marlborough Downs, before finishing in the tranquil Bourne Valley of north Hampshire.
The scenery changes constantly: steep limestone valleys around Stroud, broad views over the Vale of Pewsey, the dramatic chalk escarpment below the Westbury White Horse, sweeping downland roads across the North Wessex Downs National Landscape, and finally the crystal-clear chalk streams and pretty villages of the Bourne Valley. It’s a route that showcases many of southern England’s most distinctive landscapes, with medieval market towns, ancient villages and open countryside connected by some wonderfully enjoyable driving roads.

LOGISTiCS
We begin at Williams Automobiles near Bristol: they are kindly hosting us with some coffee and croissants to start the day. You will have time to look around their collection of Morgans and more. Assemble there any time from 0900, to be ready for a briefing at 0950 and drive off at 1000.
Expect around 3-4 hours of driving (a little more if we encounter traffic). Along the way there will be a lunch stop. We will end around 1500-1530, where afternoon tea will be available.
Navigation will use MyRoute-App for which instructions and a tutorial will be sent to participants.
We would rate this run as:
- Driving difficulty: Easy-Moderate
- Navigation difficulty: Easy, but we will be using a new app
- Scenery potential: Excellent
- Driving fun potential: Good-Excellent
TICKETING DETAILS
Please buy one ticket (free) for your car in order to reserve your place. If for any reason you need to cancel please contact us immediately as we will be making bookings with the venues for lunch and coffee.
Drivers must be MSCC members (a condition of the Club’s insurance.)
