Northampton Bach Choir's first concert of the season brings together three remarkable French works in the beautiful surroundings of St Matthew’s Church, Northampton. Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, a piece of luminous serenity with flowing lines and gentle radiance setting a reflective tone for the evening.
Poulenc’s Organ Concerto is bold, dramatic, and full of character—moving between playful brilliance and moments of deep introspection and Duruflé’s Requiem offers profound consolation, built on ancient chant and glowing harmonies.
Together, these works trace a journey from quiet devotion to intensity and finally to peace, inviting reflection, stillness, and hope.
NBC are delighted to be joined by the Bach Camerata, alto soloist Rhonda Browne and baritone, William Swinnerton.
The organ concerto will be performed by Jem Lowther.
Booking opens to Friends of Northampton Bach Choir on Friday 21st August 2026.
There will be a short pre-concert talk (6.10 - 6.30pm) by the Musical Director, Simon Toyne. This talk is a free event exclusively for the Friends of NBC.
