About
Join our art technician, Laura Hills, for an immersive workshop at the RMS School cafe on our beautiful grounds where you'll learn to paint loosely in watercolour and inks. Refreshments will be provided as well as all art materials, all you need to bring is enthusiasm and an open mind.In these sessions you'll have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of watercolour and ink techniques, including mark making, wet-in-wet application, colour mixing and texture effects. This workshop course over 6 weeks is designed to encourage exploration and creativity.
Laura will provide step-by-step demonstrations and guidance. No experience is necessary as this is an introduction to painting in these mediums, all abilities are welcome.
You will also have the opportunity to experience our amazing 300 acre estate with a plein air drawing session using a selection of drawing materials such as charcoal and line and wash. The focus will be on nature and the landscape environment, each session will end with a product of your learning, working towards a final piece of your choice in week 6.
The workshop commences on Monday 7th September 6pm - 8pm and will run weekly each Monday until 12th October. Tickets purchased cover the full 6 weeks, please see outline of activities below:
Week 1: Plein air drawing with mixed media
Week 2: Fluid fundamentals & textural control
Week 3: Gravity pours & grand vistas, granulating trees & foliage maps
Week 4: Flora, fauna & dynamic brushwork
Week 5: Creating and combining a composition
Week 6: Final piece, drying & mounting
