The Gesualdo Six - A Portrait of Carlo Gesualdo
About
Experience a captivating portrait of sacred works, showcasing some of the extraordinary writing of
one of the Renaissance’s most famous composers
The writing of notorious composer Carlo Gesualdo is well known for its extreme style, with
chromatic melodies creating dissonant and disjointed harmonic progressions that illuminate
the most melancholy aspects of the dark texts he set. The Gesualdo Six present an exhibition
of some of his finest vocal consort works, taking inspiration from the darkness and shadows
of Holy Week’s Tenebrae services.
