Penrith Action for Community Transition (PACT), in collaboration with Cumbria Wildlife Trust, are thrilled to welcome naturalist and BBC presenter Lucy Lapwing to Penrith for an unmissable evening of nature and conversation.Here is what we have planned for the evening: You are welcome to attend both parts of the event or just the walk/talk…whatever suits you!

Join Lucy Lapwing and Cold Springs Engagement Officer, Ami Stidolph, for a dusk wander. Just two years after its creation, take a stroll with us around Penrith’s local nature reserve and see what wonderful creatures have made this urban green space their home.
Part 2: 7:00pm - 8:30pm (Arrive from 6:45pm) | Author Talk – Lucy Lapwing in conversation with fellow naturalist and author of Wild Fell, Lee Schofield | Penrith Library | Ticket required for entry
Following the walk Lucy will be in conversation with fellow naturalist and author of Wild Fell, Lee Schofield at Penrith Library . They will be discussing Lucy's brilliantly honest and joyous debut book, Love is a Toad: Exploring our Relationship with Nature.
Nature makes us feel things. It sparks awe, curiosity, and a sense of community. But as wildlife declines, murkier feelings rise up: guilt, detachment, and fear. Over the course of a year, Lucy traversed meadows, bogs, and hedgerows across the UK to make sense of this dance between joy and grief. Love Is a Toad prods and pokes at our connection to the natural world, exploring its complexity in all its muddiness, messiness, and wonder.
(Please note: Refreshments will be available to purchase at the library for £1).

Talk Admission Only (£3): Grants entry to the author talk at Penrith Library.
Talk Admission + Signed Book (£18): Grants entry to the talk and includes a signed copy of Love is a Toad (a saving of £3 on the retail price!).
