The duo Andrew & Andrew is the pairing of Andy Jackson (guitar and piano) and Andrew Forsyth (flute) whose spheres meshed through the Cobweb Orchestra founded by its Artistic Director Andy back in 1997.
Originally a community music project under the wing of the (now) Royal Northern Sinfonia, the Cobweb Orchestra set out to woo recalcitrant/lapsed musicians back to their instrument after a lapse in playing activity,
Andrew was one such lapsed musician. Having first picked up the flute at the age of 12, he ended up playing 1st flute in the Westmorland Orchestra before university, career, family and Life drew a curtain across his playing activity. Until Cobweb came along with myriad playing opportunities first in the North of England and then further afield in Germany Italy and Hungary. And a growing friendship with Andy which led to both a music publishing partnership and performance engagements as a duo on their respective instruments.
Andrew has enjoyed a firm relationship with Annie and her fabulous Sunbeams project during his 20 year term as a Trustee with the Hadfield Trust, who in turn have been supporters of the new Sunbeams centre since its inception and continue to meet in the conference room here. So he cites this is a wonderful opportunity to be able to make a personal musical contribution towards their ongoing splendid work in the community.
Andy Jackson has enjoyed a rich and varied career as a professional musician which' in addition to formal recitals, has included playing in various ceilidh and jazz bands. He has also conducted ethnomusicological research in India and Portugal, had an opera performed at Covent Garden, and composed music for the Diamond Jubilee of the late Queen Elizabeth.
