Detroit comes to Lanercost for an extraordinary evening of music
Grammy-winning powerhouse Blaque Dynamite (Mike Mitchell) joins visionary conductor and three-time Grammy-nominated saxophonist De’Sean Jones, leading Detroit’s genre-defying Urban Art Orchestra, for a bold, high-energy musical explosion.
Drummer Blaque Dynamite, who began playing at just two years old, has performed with artists ranging from Herbie Hancock to Stanley Clarke. Saxophonist and composer De’Sean Jones draws on jazz tradition and Detroit’s rich musical heritage to lead his large‑ensemble Urban Art Orchestra beyond the conventional big band format. The orchestra blends strings, global rhythms, DJs and improvisation into a dynamic, contemporary sound.
Driven by Blaque’s explosive drumming and De’Sean’s dynamic direction, this collaboration will fuse jazz, hip hop, funk and raw Detroit soul. Expect top-tier musicianship meeting the heartbeat of the Motor City.
Now, for one special night, that extraordinary Detroit sound comes to the historic surroundings of Dacre Hall, Lanercost.
