About

As part of Dunfermline Abbey's Pilgrimage month 2026, we've invited comedian and storyteller Bruce Fummey to take an audience on a wander through ancient Scotland.

Ticket Price: £10

Bruce Fummey was once a physics teacher, financial adviser, and now one of Scotland's most prominent tellers of comic historical tales.

Born and raised in Perth to a Scottish mother and Ghanaian father, Bruce's studied physics before failing at teaching, Computer Based Training and Financial Sales with Scottish Amicable. Even Fellowship of the Society of Financial Advisers couldn’t polish this…, Let’s just say that he returned to teaching at Larbert High School in 2004, after fourteen years away. He says: ‘Nobody noticed I’d left, although the grades had gone up.’.

All the while, Bruce built a second career that would steal the show. A stalwart of Perth Speakers' Club, he was crowned UK Speaker of the Year, later followed by Scottish Comedian of the Year (2014).

His stand-up debut launched at the 2005 Glasgow Comedy Festival, and since then he has performed in countries across the world, taking shows telling stories from Scottish history, spiced with laughter and the odd smutty joke.

From Stornoway to Adelaide, Bruce Fummey brings history, heritage and hilarity to audiences worldwide.
