Whinlatter is a great example of current good practice when it comes to a multi-benefit forestry. This visit gives us the opportunity to have a tour of Whinlatter Forest and an open discussion about productive forestry in general. We hope this will provoke some honest discussion about what a working forest like this delivers, and what it might look like in the future.
The day is not a demonstration of what good forestry looks like, it is a demonstration of what current best practice looks like, with the experts that are delivering it on hand to explain the nuances and answer any questions.
We hope attendees go away with a broader view of the possibilities within productive forestry and a better understanding of the challanges when it comes to managing a site like this!
The event is designed for people whose roles are based in the environmental, farming, and forestry sectors in Cumbria, though anyone who is interested in what the future of forestry in Cumbria could look like is welcome.
Accessibility: Walking on forest roads and occasionally into woodland blocks. we will car share between most sites. The format/content is not designed for children, though accompanied children welcome. Dogs on short leads please.
