About

🥾 Spring 14-Mile Wandle Trail Wander: From Source to Sea!
Ready to trade the sofa for a springtime adventure? Join DG Outdoor Adventures for a spectacular 14-mile urban-meets-nature hike along the beautiful River Wandle!
We’re tracking this historic chalk stream all the way from its bustling source in Croydon to 'The Spit' in Wandsworth, right where it flows into the mighty Thames.
🌿 What to Expect on the Trail
-
Gunpowder, Snuff, and History: The Wandle was once a powerhouse of industry! We’ll pass the remnants of the 90+ historic mills that once used the river to make paper, copper, wheat, and even gunpowder. You’ll see a fascinating mix of atmospheric ruins and beautifully restored buildings.
-
Wild Encounters: Keep your cameras ready! Alongside our resident squirrels, ducks, and herons, keep your eyes peeled for elegant Egrets, diving Cormorants, and the brilliant flash of blue from elusive Kingfishers.
-
The Best of Both Worlds: We’ll weave our way out of the Croydon hustle and bustle, escaping through a chain of gorgeous inner-city parks and surprisingly serene countryside trails before reaching our final goal at the Wandsworth Causeway.
🍻 The Grand Finale
After 14 miles of glorious spring hiking, we’ll celebrate with a group photo and a well-earned, triumphant drink at The Alma (right next to Wandsworth Station) before heading home!
