About
The third and final blog explores approaches and activities for encouraging shared experiences and a sense of belonging for three- and four-year-olds. Thinking about everyday practice and being informed by research and policy guidance educators are encouraged to reflect on:
-
the significance of developing trusting relationships with parents;
-
participatory approaches with children;
-
the centrality of play in learning spaces; and
-
the importance of friendships and peer interaction.
Sharon explores how three- and four-year-olds make sense of their worlds through their natural desire to play (Malaguzzi, 1998). The blog highlights the value of taking time to understand the knowledge, or cultural capital, children bring to the setting. It also considers how key persons can build children’s confidence in shared learning by providing both familiar and diverse resources.
