Sizergh - Meeting Old Trees

Join us for a walk on the Sizergh Estate, chatting about the tree’d landscape, what land history and types of management allow trees to become very old, how to recognise ancient and veteran trees, and notice why they are important to flora, fauna and funga. We will observe how old trees respond to changes in their environment and adapt to the ageing process.

The visit is an opportunity to better understand old trees and how and why we might define an ancient or other veteran tree. We will consider what veteran trees might be in your own environment that you haven't got to know yet and we will also ask how we can sustain our own adaptations to change, illness, disability or ageing by spending time with ancient and veteran trees?

The event is open to all interested in trees

The visit is hosted by Clare de Villanueva, Director of Cumbria Woodlands and associate of the Ancient Tree Forum.

Dogs ok on short leads. The format/content is not designed for children, though accompanied children welcome.
