About
The Year of Mark begins this Advent when we follow Mark’s account of the Story of Jesus. Mark was the first Gospel to be written, and is one of the foundation documents of the New Testament. Written to evoke faith in Jesus as Son of God and Messiah, Mark’s story has pace and drama.
In a series of three seminars, Canon Dr Peter Sills explores Mark’s Gospel. In the first he asks: Who was Mark? When, why, where and for whom did he write? What are the keynotes of his message?
The second March 16 2027, 10.30 - 12.00
seminar looks at Mark’s Passion Story, noting its distinctive features and the picture of Jesus it paints.
The third seminar looks more closely at Mark’s message, at its personal, social and political contexts. The Seminars will be on Zoom on the following dates:
November 24 2026, 10.30 - 12.00
March 16 2027, 10.30 - 12.00
May 11 2027, 10.30 - 12.00
