VIRTUAL MASTERCLASS: GREEK LITERATURE IN TRANSLATION - THURSDAY SESSION

Join Alex Wilson as he hosts a virtual masterclass on Homer's Odyssey and Greek Tragedy, the two cornerstones of ancient Greek literature which are thought to have had a huge influence on later writings right up to the present day. The Iliad and the Odyssey are considered to be, not only the most important works of ancient Greek literature, but the oldest extant works of Western literature. The Odyssey tells the epic tale of the journey of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, after the fall of Troy. Greek tragedy heavily influenced the theatre of Ancient Rome and the Renaissance, with tragic plot often based upon myths from the oral traditions of archaic epics.

The masterclass is free of charge and limited to 8 spaces, to ensure all attendees fully benefit from the lesson.

There will be a one hour masterclass every Thursday for five weeks, starting on Thursday 4 June. To take part in this masterclass, you will need a copy of The Odyssey and the Greek tragedies.
