On Sunday 11 October 2026, the Parkinson's Yorkshire and Humber Younger Person's Support Group Annual Information and Social Day will be held at The Village Hotel Leeds South, Capitol Boulevard, Tingley, Leeds LS27 0TS. The event will start with coffee/tea and a pastry from 10.30am.
Session 1
Dr James Weeks, Specialist Registrar in Neurology and Clinical Research Fellow, who works with Professor Oliver Bandmann in Sheffield will give an overview of Parkinson's research. This will include the latest advances in Parkinson's advanced therapies, new tools for managing symptoms at home and where the search for a cure currently stands, including trials taking place locally.
Session 2
Parkinson's UK local advisers Janet Edmunds and Stephanie Crabtree will explain their role and how local advisers can provide help and support.
Session 3
Why Exercise?
A fun, practical & interactive session exploring how exercise can help with Parkinson’s, the activities that can make a difference, & simple ways to keep moving throughout your day, led by Becky Lennox, Parkinson’s Fitness Coach.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions of all the speakers.

A two course lunch is included and there will be time to socialise with other attendees over lunch and after the last speaker finishes around 3.30pm. The event is aimed at those aged under 67 with Parkinson's Disease and any carer/partner/guest they wish to invite. Tickets are £12.50 each plus 78p TryBooking costs per person. The event will end by 4.30pm latest. Booking prior to 10am on 30 September is essential.
