Melanie is a journalist and columnist who has written extensively for the Spectator, the Times, the Telegraph, the Evening Standard and the Tablet on politics, literature, the arts and religion. She holds a doctorate in History from the University of Cambridge. In her book she examines the phenomenon of conversions to Catholicism between the 1890s and the 1960s. Melanie focuses on sixteen notable British writers, artists and intellectuals, including Oscar Wilde, Evelyn Waugh, Muriel Spark, Graham Greene and G. K. Chesterton.
