🏔️ A Wild Welsh Weekend in Bannau Brycheiniog! 🥾

Get ready to swap the Surrey hills for some serious Welsh summits!

Paul from WalkTalk Surrey, is thrilled to invite you on an epic, two-day mountain walking adventure in the stunning Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th April 2027.

We’re heading off the beaten track to bag some of southern Britain's highest peaks, dodging the crowds, and embracing whatever wild weather Wales throws our way.

Here is what we have lined up for the weekend:

🥾 The Weekend Hit List

Day 1: The Black Mountains Beauties
We’ll likely kick things off from the Pengenffordd / Castell Dinas area, aiming for the sweeping, open uplands of Waun Fach (810 m)—the highest point in the Black Mountains. From there, we’ll traverse the ridge to the distinctive summit shelter of Pen y Gadair Fawr (800 m). Expect big skies, wild terrain, and a brilliant day of moderate-to-challenging hiking.

Day 2: The Roof of Southern Britain (The Quiet Way!)
We are tackling the legendary Pen y Fan (886 m) and its striking neighbor, Corn Du (873 m). But we aren't joining the motorway of walkers on the south side. Instead, we’re taking the scenic, quieter northern approach up the dramatic Cefn Cwm Llwch ridge. It’s a steeper, far more rewarding mountain day!

⛺ The Important Stuff: Accommodation & Pricing
Please note: The event price covers your 2 days of expert guided hiking only.
You are entirely free to choose your own accommodation—whether you prefer a cozy local B&B, a campsite, or a hotel in a nearby town. (We`ll share meeting points and a few suggested basecamps once you sign up, so we can coordinate!) Transport and meals are also self-organised.

🌦️ The "Mother Nature is Boss" Rule
Mountain weather changes fast, and safety is my top priority. This is a highly flexible itinerary. I will be obsessively checking the mountain forecasts the night before and the morning of each hike. If the wind is howling, the bogs are impassable, or visibility drops, Paul will tweak, shorten, or completely swap our routes to ensure we still have a fantastic (and safe) day out.

🎒 What You Need to Bring
This is proper mountain terrain with exposed ridges, steep climbs, and potentially boggy ground. You will need:

Sturdy, broken-in waterproof hiking boots.

A fully waterproof jacket and trousers (no jeans!).

Plenty of warm, breathable layers, plus a hat and gloves.

A personal first-aid kit and any essential medication.

A head torch.

Enough food, snacks, and water to keep your energy high all day.

(Note: Because of the steep terrain, sheer drops, and livestock, this weekend is unfortunately not suitable for dogs.)

Ready to climb some mountains?
Block out the 17th and 18th of April 2027, pack your sense of adventure, and get ready for a brilliant weekend of walking, talking, and taking in some of the best views in Wales.
