Menstrual Health in the Workplace for Mental Health First Aiders
Mental Health First Aiders are often trusted colleagues and approachable points of contact for employees experiencing challenges at work. Conversations about menstrual health, periods and conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis or PMDD can arise unexpectedly, leaving many MHFAs unsure about how best to respond.
This practical two-hour online workshop is designed specifically for Mental Health First Aiders, wellbeing champions and workplace support champions who want to build their knowledge, confidence and skills in supporting colleagues experiencing menstrual health challenges.
Led by Jenny Bowers, Founder Director of Purplemoon, this interactive session explores the potential impact of menstrual health on wellbeing, confidence and working life, while helping participants understand how to respond appropriately within the boundaries of their role.
During the workshop, you will:
- Increase your understanding of menstrual health and common menstrual health conditions.
- Explore how symptoms can affect wellbeing, confidence and day-to-day work.
- Build confidence in having supportive and compassionate conversations.
- Understand the role and boundaries of an MHFA or wellbeing champion.
- Develop effective signposting skills and knowledge of support options.
- Explore ways to contribute to a more inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
- Consider your own wellbeing when supporting others.
By the end of the session, you will:
- Feel more confident discussing menstrual health in the workplace.
- Better understand the challenges colleagues may experience.
- Have practical tools to support conversations appropriately.
- Know where and how to signpost colleagues for additional support.
- Be equipped to help create a more inclusive workplace.
Suitable for: Mental Health First Aiders, Wellbeing Champions, Inclusion Champions, People Leads and anyone with a workplace wellbeing support role.
