Mancunianity Flows is a festive riverside audio-theatre adventure for families, friends, couples and solo explorers. Step outdoors into the winter air, encounter remarkable local history and spot quirky details hiding in places you may pass every day.
The traffic-free pedestrian route is less than a quarter of a mile, making it manageable for different generations. But there is plenty packed into the journey: fascinating history, surprising incidents, entertaining stories and unexpected discoveries along the way.
Your wireless headset is included and cleaned between uses, helping you hear every story, sound and musical moment clearly. There is no app to download and no equipment to bring.
Children receive a special spotting activity, transforming the route into a playful search for unusual features. Younger and older explorers can compare discoveries, share the fun and see familiar neighbourhoods through fresh eyes.
The adventure concludes with a lively 15-minute interactive riverside concert, featuring live music, a sea shanty and the specially created River Irwell song. Join in where invited, or simply listen and enjoy as the stories and discoveries from the walk come together beside the river.
Concert seating is on outdoor concrete seat blocks, so you may wish to bring a small waterproof cushion or folded sit mat for extra comfort.
Supported using public funding by Arts Council England and developed with support from Aviva Studios, home of Factory International, this professionally produced experience combines local stories, original music and high-quality audio theatre.

Under-threes and Access Companions attend free, but a free ticket must still be booked for every person attending.
We keep each group small enough for everyone to walk comfortably, hear clearly and enjoy the experience. With only six performances, advance booking is recommended.
The experience continues in most weather, so come prepared for the forecast with warm, waterproof clothing and suitable footwear. If severe weather makes a performance unsafe, affected ticket holders will be contacted by email and offered a transfer to another performance, subject to availability, or a refund.
Anyone aged 17 or under must attend with a responsible adult aged 18 or over. Children and young people must remain with their accompanying adult throughout the experience, and accompanying adults are responsible for their supervision and safety.
