About

Friends of the Vox warmly invites all singers to an inspiring day exploring Gabriel Fauré’s comforting masterpiece, on Saturday 16th January at West Malling Primary School.

Fauré said of his Requiem, 'Everything I managed to entertain by way of religious illusion I put into my Requiem, which moreover is dominated from beginning to end by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest.' Fauré saw death as a 'happy deliverance, an aspiration towards happiness above, rather than as a painful experience.'

Whether you know his Requiem well or are discovering it for the first time, you will be part of a unique choir for the day. Friends of the Vox Artistic Director James Meaders will lead you through this exquisite work, building connection between voices, performers, and the traditional text of the Requiem. Expertly accompanied by Richard Hammond-Hall, the final performance of the day will be a celebration of the day's hard work!
