About

Come to The Old Hairdressers’ for a night of mind-expanding live music like no other! This event features a colourful lineup of exciting bands that specialise in music to get you tuning in and grooving out at the same time. Featuring the local act ‘The First Morning’ and a special supporting guest yet TBA, the hosts of the evening are Californian band ‘Rice’ visiting from both out of town and out of this world.

Rice is a psychedelic indie-rock act formed by Californian brothers Gideon and Gabriel Flemming, joined by drummer Bruin Valentine to create a transatlantic power-trio greater than the sum of it’s parts. The band is now based in Lancaster, England and specialises in playing its own unique brand of psychedelia featuring vibrant melodies, eclectic rhythms, and rich textures.

Merging the inspiration of their rock heroes with the soundscapes of chilled out contemporary indie and R&B has led them to a sound uniquely their own- often being described as reminiscent of Tame Impala and many late 60’s acts such as The Jimi Hendrix Experience. In Rice’s prolific live career they have played alongside mind-blowing acts such as The Lovely Eggs, Manchester’s DEAF DEAF DEAF, and Glasgow’s very own Cloth to name a few.

Having released their debut Studio EP ‘Off The Cuff’ earlier this year, the band has since received radio play and featured interview slots on BBC Lancashire and Cumbria. The band now sets their sights on playing new cities and taking their music to a national audience, debuting in Glasgow for the first time for this special event!

The First Morning are Glasgow's Finest Bilingual Psychedelic Rock Cult. Their music is groove-laced 'psychedelic dream rock' with hypnotic melodies, hazy textures and lyrics in both English and Spanish. They have supported psychedelic greats like Hawklords, Kavus Torabi and the Cosmic Dead. They recently played alongside the Miracle Seeds and the Third Sound at Freakender festival and made their debut in England at Glastonbury Pysch Fest. Their singles ‘So Damn Tired’ and ‘Estaré’ have received radio play across both the English and Spanish speaking world.

Join us for an energetic night of spaced-out live music and book your tickets now!
