Autumn Leaves Lino Printed Tote Bag with Carrie Dennison

Thursday 18 September 2025
In this workshop we’ll first go over the tools and carving basics. We’ll then carve a leaf design lino cut stamp in order to print up a cotton tote bag with it. We’ll go through everything you need in order to print on to fabric, from type of lino cut design to the ink we use. This workshop is especially suitable for beginners as we’ll be using basic, bold designs, and a simple printing technique. You’ll go home with a colourful cotton bag, printed on both sides, and will be able to use the knowledge you’ve learned to print up and create your own patterned fabric. All tools and materials are provided, just bring yourself! We’ll be using plenty of block printing ink in this workshop, so please either wear an apron or old clothes.

Autumn Sketch and Stroll with Carrie Dennison

Thursday 9 October 2025
This workshop is designed specifically for beginners and for those who say they ‘can’t draw’! Of course, those with sketching experience are very welcome too. This workshop is all about getting outside and enjoying some fresh air, finding shapes and colour in the landscape around St Michael’s & All Angels Church, and producing small 6cm square sketches. We’ll do a few simple drawing exercises in the church first, and then we’ll move outside to observe the landscape, details and colours around us. All materials will be provided. Please wear suitable clothing for the weather, and sturdy shoes for walking. If the weather is really bad, then we’ll have plenty of sketching opportunities inside the church.

Metal Embossed Key or Dog Lead Hanger with Carrie Dennison

Thursday 6 November 2025
On this workshop we will create a metal embossed design that will decorate a metal hanger. The metal hanger will be suitable for hanging lightweight items like keys or dog leads. We’ll go through the process of metal embossing: applying your chosen design to the metal, learning how to gradually emboss the metal to the desired depth, and adding texture and details. We’ll then attach the metal to the base board of the hanger and we’ll make the metal look aged to finish off the design. Finally we’ll add the hook. I have Celtic knotwork designs that you can choose from, or you can bring your own design. The finished hanger size is 13cm x 13cm, so an image a cm or two smaller than these dimensions will work well.

Junk Journals with Carrie Dennison

Tuesday 13 May 2025
In this workshop we’ll create a hand bound journal, using your own ‘junk’! It’s a great way to recycle paper and card items around your home and repurpose them into a journal that you can add your journalling and treasured memories in. Using junk materials, we’ll first create our book pages, and then create the covers. These will all be bound together to create your book. You’ll go home with a finished, hand bound journal, that is ready for you to start writing, drawing and creating in. This workshop is suitable for beginners. Carrie will email you a list of what recycled junk you need to bring, but all other materials will be provided.
