It's so much more. The Little White Bus is a community transport provider operating in the Upper Dales of Wensleydale and Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Driven by a combination of wonderful volunteers and paid drivers. We provide - Excursions from the Dales, direct shopping trips to connect Hawes to larger towns, trips to Hawes on Market day. Our most popular trip takes people to the Red Squirrel reserve at a location near to Hawes.

Red Squirrels at Snaizeholme

Between Saturday 8 August 2026 and Monday 30 November 2026

The Snaizeholme red squirrel viewing area lies in the heart of the Widdale Red Squirrel Reserve. Coniferous woodland is ideal habitat for red squirrels. However squirrels can be difficult to see in such densely planted woodlands. We have worked with the local landowners to create a red squirrel viewing area for the public. The Snaizeholme viewpoint and surrounding woodland offer an excellent chance of getting superb views of red squirrels as they visit a feeder in a woodland clearing. With luck you may also see roe deer, along with a variety of woodland birds such as siskin, lesser redpoll and perhaps even a common crossbill. You can take advantage of the Little White Bus service from the Dales Museum that will take you to Snaizeholme. From the drop-off point, it is a 2.5 mile circular walk to the red squirrel viewpoint.

This Shuttle Bus between Wensleydale and Swaledale, jumping over the hills to connect the two dales. Passengers have 3 ticket options - Wensleydale - Swaledale, Swaledale - Wensleydale, Arkengarthdale Local journeys. Wensleydale starting point, take you from Hawes to Reeth. Leaving Hawes Board Inn at 9am and arriving at Reeth for 10:30. The return journey from Reeth is 14:45 from Reeth Bus Shelter. Swaledale starting point, takes you from Reeth Bus Shelter at to Hawes 10:45 to Hawes, arriving at 12:15, giving you 45min in Hawes, before returning at from Hawes Board Inn at13:00. Arkengarthdale local pick-up tickets are Whaw village, CB Yard, CB Inn, and Langthwaite. The journey passes through the deep dales of Wensleydale, over to Keld using the famous Buttertub pass and over a further hill following Stonesdale Lane to Tan Hill and down through Arkengarthdale to get to Reeth in Swaledale. Prebooked tickets get priority for this journey. If there are seats left on the day these can be bought on the bus. We have 16 seats on the bus. We hope that people use and enjoy this journey to get between dales in the Summer months.
