Sew Resourceful - Reusable Tote Bag using a Sewing Machine

We'll guide you through every step of the process and you'll go away with a completed bag, plus detailed instructions so you can make many more. (Hint: they make excellent gifts!)
We have some lovely donated sewing machines ready for you to use, and it's fine if your sewing skills are a bit rusty - or even if you haven't used a machine before, we'll have plenty of helpers on hand!

Slow Stitching February
Monday 17 February 2025
Slow Stitching is hand sewing that involves using bits and pieces of fabric, ribbon, lace, buttons, beads, trims and more to create fabulous pieces of fabric art. The idea is to slow down. Breathe. Create.
There are no rules, no right or wrong way. No patterns, no instructions and no judgement. And the best bit? It doesn't have to be perfect! In fact, it's even better if it isn't. Imperfections add character!
We will provide tea, coffee and biscuits and you will have access to all of the wonderful Scrapstore supplies to inspire you.
£3 for members and £5 for non members, places are limited so make sure to book your spot.

Rag Rugging
Sunday 9 February 2025
Join us for an introduction to the traditional art of rag rugging - a practical and decorative craft that has been around for hundreds of years. It's the perfect example of creative reuse of materials, which is what we are all about here at the Resourceful Community Scrapstore.
We'll give you a brief overview of the different rag rugging techniques and then you can try it out for yourself. A complete rug would obviously take a while, so in the workshop you'll just be making a sample which you can then use as a decoration on a bag or item of clothing, or just hang on the wall!
We'll provide all the resources and tools you need.
We'll provide hot drinks and biscuits to sustain you while you craft, as well as access to all the Scrapstore resources.
£15 for non-members and £12.50 for members (you'll need your membership number to book the reduced rate.)
This session is aimed at adults and accompanied older children (10+) - please email if you have any questions.

Crochet Club - November 2024
Thursday 28 November 2024
At Resourceful Crochet Club this month we will be making Christmas Decorations, with two choices of patterns - or you are welcome to bring your own project along. If you are a beginner we will do our best to get you started!
For those starting out or not quite ready for amigurumi, we have a cute star pattern which you could then use as a decoration to hang on your tree or to attach to a present.
If you're comfortable with working amigurumi-style, we have vintage Christmas lights - make one to hang on your tree, or make a whole set to join into a festive garland.
We will provide tea, coffee and biscuits and we have plenty of yarn and crochet hooks if you need them.
£3 for members and £5 for non members, places are limited so make sure to book your spot
