Holiday Thursday Make & Take - Collage Cupcakes

Thursday 29 May 2025
As it's nearly our birthday, we invite you to come and join us to decorate some cakes* - get creative with card, sparkles, yarn, buttons, beads, fabric (and anything else you can find on the Scrapstore shelves) to make your own unique designs. (*sadly the cakes are made from cardboard and we really don't advise trying to eat them!) Your finished cakes make perfect colourful decorations for your noticeboard, door or wall, or you could choose to add a loop of string and hang them up, make a few and thread them onto ribbon to make a garland, attach them to a greetings card, or write on the back to send a quick note to someone special - it's up to you. This session is for accompanied children and is suitable for all ages. (Please book tickets for all adults and children who will be attending - the adult tickets are free, but it allows us to make sure we have enough space for everyone!) These sessions are supported by a grant from Bognor Regis Town Council and include a healthy snack.

Dorset Buttons

Sunday 8 June 2025
Join us to learn about the techniques for making Dorset Buttons and create a beautiful example that you can wear as a brooch or attach to a bag etc. As the name suggests, this style of button making originated in Dorset and was widely used until the middle of the 19th Century when machine made buttons took over. Using thread, needles and rings and the same basic techniques you can make a range of different patterns. You can of course still use them as buttons, but we'll be making a decorative flower posy design that works perfectly as a brooch or a decoration for a bag or other accessory - you could even make it into a keyring or pendant. We'll provide all the resources and tools you need and we'll give you hot drinks and biscuits to sustain you while you craft. £15 for non-members and £12.50 for members (you'll need your membership number to book the reduced rate.) This session is aimed at adults and accompanied older children (12+) Please email if you have any questions.

Slow Stitching June

Monday 16 June 2025
Slow Stitching is hand sewing that involves using bits and pieces of fabric, ribbon, lace, buttons, beads, trims and more to create fabulous pieces of fabric art. The idea is to slow down. Breathe. Create. There are no rules, no right or wrong way. No patterns, no instructions and no judgement. And the best bit? It doesn't have to be perfect! In fact, it's even better if it isn't. Imperfections add character! We will provide tea, coffee and biscuits and you will have access to all of the wonderful Scrapstore supplies to inspire you. £3 for members and £5 for non members, places are limited so make sure to book your spot.

Bargello Bookmark

Sunday 6 July 2025
Join us to make a colourful and unique bookmark using the traditional technique of Bargello. Traditionally Bargello is worked using wool on canvas - we'll be using a plastic canvas to give our bookmarks strength, and we have plenty of tapestry wool to choose from for your design. We'll provide all the resources and tools you need and we'll give you hot drinks and biscuits to sustain you while you craft. £15 for non-members and £12.50 for members (you'll need your membership number to book the reduced rate.)
