Royal Sutton Coldfield Orchestra

The Royal Sutton Coldfield Orchestra (RSCO), founded in 1975, has around 50 members from Birmingham and beyond. We perform five concerts a year, including two symphonic concerts and a Family Christmas Concert. We support young musicians through our Young Soloists concert and a summer children’s concert with the Youth Orchestra, giving them the experience of playing with a full orchestra and performing publicly for the first time.

Young Soloists Concert

Saturday 28 February 2026
Royal Sutton Coldfield Orchestra’s Young Soloists concert once again celebrates the remarkable talent of the region’s emerging musicians. This year’s programme features six young soloists on cello, violin, clarinet, bassoon and horn, performing a varied selection of concerto movements and concert pieces by Haydn, Beethoven, Weber, Strauss and Saint-Saëns, all accompanied by the orchestra. The orchestra adds symphonic highlights from Haydn and Boyce, creating a rich and contrasting programme that spans the Classical and early Romantic periods. This much-loved annual event offers many performers their first opportunity to appear with a full orchestra and continues a tradition of showcasing musicians whose standard is never anything less than astonishing. It often marks the beginning of future professional careers.
