Wednesday 28 April 2021With musician, vocal artist, composer & writer Sarah Sayeed, whose credits include Principle Musician Richard II at The Globe, Composer and Musical Director RSC adaption of Moliere's Tartuffe. Sarah's second session with us will give participants the opportunity to explore opening and freeing their natural voice, while finding different ways of working with range and dynamics, focusing on expression, intent and clarity using extracts from Shakespeare.

Friday 23 April 2021Janet will be with us to mark Shakespeare’s birthday with a fascinating talk - an unconventional take on Antony and Cleopatra. She is famous for one of the most iconic portrayals of Shakespeare’s Cleopatra, playing the role at the RSC and on film and later directed Kim Cattrall in the part. Janet debates controversially why she believes that Cleopatra was originally played by a woman. She argues that the clue is in the line ‘and I shall see some squeaking Cleopatra boy my greatness'

Monday 8 February 2021This event is free, but please consider making a donation however small as it will help towards our online programme. One of our most respected actors of her generation leads with a discussion on Jacques in As You Like It and Iago in Othello. Some Shakespearean characters exhibit what has become known as acute episodes of ‘mania’ so caught up are they in their melancholy or other emotions. This workshop is linked to our play writing competition, which focuses on the theme of mental health.

Monday 1 February 2021This play writing workshop is free and open to all, but please consider making a donation, however small, to help us with our online programme and work. The workshop will include an overview of structure, dialogue and character as well as some time to answer practical questions. Emily Garside, MA RADA, will lead. She is a journalist, academic and playwright and teaches at the University of Wolverhampton and the Bishopsgate Institute.

Two-part online series featuring one of the world’s most renowned Shakespeare directors Bill Alexander as he begins rehearsing A Merchant of Venice, his adapted six-character version of the play. We will send you links to the session, accompanying notes, show recorded footage of the rehearsal which will then be followed by a Q & A with Bill and members of our company.
